Sustainability.
In the world of fashion today it is hard to see a new trend more prevalent than sustainability. A shift in the perception of consumerism has affected the consumption habits of most across a range of industries – most notably food and fashion. The curtain is beginning to fall and fast fashion brands with questionable practices are starting to change their ways – well some of them at least. I chose to write my dissertation of how we can help fast fashion brands who are beginning to exhibit sustainable lines so their in-store shopping experience is optimised. We cannot expect immediate elimination over night but we can concentrate efforts onto the brands who are beginning the journey of ethical production and the promotion of ethical consumption.
Photography Projects
This photo collection takes inspiration from death and anger. Two interesting emotions that can correlate so well. I wanted to exhibit how death sometimes makes you lose yourself – hence the inclusion of lots of silhouettes and darkness. But it can be enticing and piercing as shown through the classic symbolism of light pulling through the photos.
This project was inspired by Versace. The fashion and styling were reminiscent of the classic 90’s Versace girl with a modern grungy look to bring in some younger new clientele for the brand. the editing was purposely faded to give the images a vintage feel in conjunction with current popular styles. Colour was an inspiration as it makes the images feel glamorous and lavish – the feelings the brand exudes.
